Mini Projects

ShieldMakers Organization

ShieldMakers is comprised of ArtCenter students & faculty, Caltech students, and engineers from Rancho Research Institute who volunteered to make face shields for the greater Los Angeles healthcare personnel. Our goal was to protect the frontline health providers who were battling the Coronavirus.

Within a matter of weeks, our team was able to provide a few thousand face shields. I lead the 3D-Printing team where we designed a face shield that could be printed within an hour. My partner James Gildea lead the resin casting team with a design that could be casted and cured within 30 minutes.

Hololens 2.5

In my opinion Augmented Reality is more useful than Virtual Reality when it comes to design & engineering work. Microsoft’s Hololens 2 is a device that design that works well in these two fields.

In this mini project, I redesigned the Hololens 2 with a full AR lens shield to give it a more uniform and premium look. I also designed a magnetic charging port on the back console using Microsoft’s logo as power connectors.

Carbon Case for Airpods Pro renders

Carbon Case is a series of renders for FoamMasters Amazon listing. Rendering was chosen over photography to create a consistent side-by-side comparison between 4 variations of pattern and gloss level. By doing so, it helped streamline the decision making process for our customers.

Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro Foam Tips Renders

This is a series of renders for FoamMasters Amazon listing. Rendering was chosen over photography to create a consistent side-by-side comparison between 4 variations of pattern and gloss level. By doing so, it helped streamline the decision making process for our customers.

Formula E

Formula E is an annual event that ArtCenter College of Design holds that challenge students and corporate designers alike to create the best R/C car powered by a 16’ rubber band. Our Team car was pushed the boundaries of this challenge by focusing on modularity due to the high crash rate of crashes. Front and rear axle’s are swappable in minutes. The tightly wounded rubber band cage is design to act as a swappable battery as well.

Our design took 2nd place in the Figure-8 course while breaking previous time records from previous years.

Google Query

Google Query was a quick surface design mock up for a concept I had for Google’s ecosystem of products. It’s a smart watch designed to assist kid’s and their curiosity. Kids can simply ask Query any question and the mobile assistant will give them a quick answer. Of course the search engine will be child friendly and their parents would be able to monitor what their kids are asking.

There is potential for a tailored educational program for each individual kid to help them thrive based on their own individual curiosity and talents.

This project is designed for educational purposes, and does not reflect any future plans of Google.
